Disconnecting After Sending/Receiving E-mail

This is a very common problem with Outlook Express. This issue can occur if you click to select the "Hang up after sending and receiving" check box during an active connection to the Internet. It is also very easy to fix.

  1. Double-click the 'Outlook Express' icon on your desktop. If this icon is not on your desktop click on Start | Programs | Outlook Express. Or for Windows XP, click on Start | Email, which is at the top.
  2. Once Outlook Express is open, Click on 'Tools' at the top, and click on 'Options'.
  3. After the 'Options' window pops up, click on 'Connection'.
  4. Uncheck the box that says 'Hang up after sending and receiving'.
  5. Click 'OK' at the bottom, and that should correct the problem.
